Ilim Group spends record high CAPEX in 2019

Ilim has spent record high СAPEX exceeding USD 715 million to upgrade its locations, which is almost double the amount spent in 2018

In 2019, JSC Ilim Group completed several significant investment projects, including the KLB Line Rebuild project in Bratsk with a CAPEX of USD 120 million to drive a 50% increase of the finished products output up to 295 thousand tons per year. Another key project in 2019 was the Pulp Line Upgrade in Ust-Ilimsk worth more than USD 102 million, which will add another 50 thousand tons to the Company’s aggregate annual finished products output.

Several projects are now in the implementation stage, including the Big Ust-Ilimsk, the Company's biggest project. Construction of a new pulp and paperboard mill in Ust-Ilimsk will allow to produce more than 600 thousand tons of board per year and will make JSC Ilim Group one of the world's largest manufacturers of unbleached packaging materials.

According to the 2019 results, Ilim has retained its leadership in the pulp and paper market. The aggregate finished products output totaled 3.2 million tons. In 2019, Ilim Group mills produced 2 million tons of pulp, 780 thousand tons of packaging materials, 338 thousand tons of white papers, 76 thousand tons of forest chemicals and 256 million square meters of corrugated packaging.

According to Ilim Group's annual report under Russian statutory accounting standards, its revenue in 2019 amounted to RUB 124.07 billion, income before tax - RUB 27.07 billion, net profit - RUB 21.3 billion.

In 2019, Ilim Group ranked 64th in the annual Forbes rating of the top 200 Russian largest companies, having improved its position by13 points vs 2018. Kseniia Sosnina, Ilim Group CEO, was named as one of the top women executives of the largest Russian corporations. In 2019, Fastmarkets RISI, the definitive source of commodity data and insights for the forest products industry, named Ilim Group CEO, Kseniia Sosnina the Fastmarkets RISI European CEO of the Year. Kseniia Sosnina is the first woman to receive this award.
