Ilim Traditionally Supports Shanghai Pulp Week

Ilim Group took part in Shanghai Pulp Week and sponsored the Hawkins Wright Shanghai Symposium held as part of the conference.

The conference took place online on March 24–25, 2021 driven by the pandemic restrictions and brought together analysts, independent industry experts and pulp and paper manufacturers.

The major topics this year included growth prospects of the Chinese pulp and paper market, logistics and supply chain, drivers of rapid post-pandemic recovery of the Chinese economy, as well as digitalization of operations in the short and long term.

Ilim is implementing a large-scale investment program worth USD 3 billion aimed to upgrade and expand the mill capacities to meet the increasing demand for paperboard and pulp in Asia. By 2025, the aggregate output of finished products will increase by another 40% to reach 4.5 million tons. In particular, Ilim is implementing a large-scale investment project involving construction of a new pulp and paperboard mill in Ust-Ilimsk to reinforce its presence in the packaging materials market. Upon start-up of the new mill in 2023, Ilim will increase its board output by another 600,000 tons to become one of the largest manufacturers of unbleached packaging materials globally with a total board output of 1.5 million tons per year.
