The sustainability priorities of Ilim Group remain unchanged and include lower environmental impact, production safety, responsible forest management, and social policy.
In the reporting year, the Company expanded its ESG agenda and voluntarily undertook to manage its carbon footptint with a goal to achieve a 12% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050.
In 2022, Ilim Group allocated RUB 9.86 billion to implement the projects aimed at reducing its environmental impact with RUB 4.77 billion earmarked for environmental initiatives.
Reforestation costs in the reporting period amounted to RUB 700 million, including RUB 436.8 million of investment in fire-fighting efforts. Being a responsible forest management company Ilim is moving towards intensive use of forests and reforestation by using cutting edge technologies. One of the Group’s key challenges is to improve reforestation performance by increasing the share of planted ball-rooted seedlings to 80%.
Ilim Group's key asset is its highly professional team. The Company employs more than 17.5 thousand people. Ilims HR policy fosters conditions that support employee productivity and development. In 2022, the scope of training programs for employees approximated 1.2 million hours.
Ilim Group supported more than 240 projects (RUB 674 million) within its footprint in the reporting year. These projects covered healthcare and environment, education, culture, youth sports, as well as social infrastructure development. In 2022, the Company became the laureate of the Best Social Projects of Russia for its Preservation of the Cedar Grove, Specially Protected Natural Area in Koryazhma, Arkhangelsk Oblast.
