Ilim Group is an indisputable leader in terms of certification of the Russian forestry sector. The Company considers certification on the basis of Environmental Management, Quality Management and Occupational Health and Safety Standards, as well as Voluntary Forest Certification among top priorities of its activity.

There are the following aspects of implementation of the international standards:

Implementation of ISO 14001 Environmental Management standards;
Implementation of ISO 9001 Quality Management standards;
Implementation of ISO 18001 Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001) standards
Voluntary Forest Certification of forest management practices in accordance with FSC standards.

ISO 14001 standards are aimed to streamline the use of various techniques, and define a frame of reference for organization of the environmental management system (EMS) which enables the company to independently develop a number in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment.

ISO 9001 standards are intended to assess the quality of finished products in terms of environmental norms and requirements. The essential condition of certification is establishment of the Quality Management System in a company and implementation of an audit.

OHSAS 18001 Management standards are developed for quality assessment of the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and aimed to create a Corporate Work Safety Management System as an integral part of the Company General Management System.

The Company Management System based on OHSAS 18001 standards allows to:

monitor hazardous industrial factors;
manage risks arising in the course of production;
prevent accidents, breakdowns and emergencies;
reduce losses from inadequate activities;
integrate into the Management Systems existing in the Company;
Introduce positive changes to the Company's image.

OHSAS 18001 certification is a guaranty of the company's strong sense of social responsibility. OHSAS 18001 standard is compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. All Mills of Ilim Group underwent certification for compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. Certification of Ilim Group Mills on the basis of the Occupational Health and Safety and Management system was the third step on the way of creation of the Integrated Management System.

Forest Management Certification

Ilim Group is a leader in voluntary forest management certification in Russia. The total area of the company's FSC-certified timber land exceeds 4.1 million hectares, which accounts for over 85% of all forest resources leased by the company.

All of the company's logging plants have valid FSC certificates of their forest management systems and supply chains and confirm their compliance with strict international standards on an annual basis.
