In 2009, Ilim completed a large investment project involving construction of an NSSC plant with continuous cooking in Koryazhma with investments exceeding RUB 1.7 billion.

The plant capacity is 900 tons of NSSC pulp per day or 310,000 tons per year. Implementation of the project involving construction of the world's largest NSSC plant was an essential part of the program to increase the output of Ilim's Koryazhma Mill. Start-up of the new facility with cutting-edge equipment improved the availability of high-quality semi-chemical pulp used in containerboard production, reducing wood consumption vs. conventional pulping process, reduced the production cost of high-quality containerboard and increased production output by over 40,000 tons per year.
