Mr. Zakhar Smushkin, Board Chairman of Ilim Group, spoke at a plenary session of the Baikal Economic Forum in Irkutsk. His presentation was dedicated to investments into the forest products industry and ways to improve efficiency in using forest resources.

Over the past 5 years, the Bratsk Branch of OJSC Ilim Group (Irkutsk Oblast) has lowered its load on the environment by 4%. For instance, the Mill’s emissions, which amounted to 5,800 tons in 2005, were reduced to 5,600 tons in 2009.

Mr. Paul Herbert, Chief Executive Officer of Ilim Group, Mr. Ilya Mikhalchuk, Governor of the Arkhangelsk Oblast, and Mr. Valery Elezov, Head of the Koryazhma Municipal Entity, have signed and Agreement today in Arkhangelsk concerning the construction of a major health center in Koryazhma.

OJSC Ilim Group, Russia’s major pulp and paper manufacturer, has launched a new project introducing electronic document flow and archive. The system in question is based on Extended ECM for SAP Solutions by Open Text Corporation. Project contractor is AveBrava, Open Text’s official partner in Russia and CIS.

Over the first six months of 2010, Business Unit Ilim West (the Koryazhma Branch) has manufactured 492 thousand tons of pulp and paper products, up 14% compared to the same period last year.

During the first half of 2010, the pulp and paper output of Ilim Group enterprises integrated into Ilim East business unit (the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk Branches) amounted to 716 thousand tons, i.e. up 4% over the first six months of 2009.

The Board of Directors of OJSC Ilim Group approved an investment project involving installation of a paper machine in Koryazhma. The estimate project cost exceeds USD 270 million.

The Ust-Ilimsk Branch of Ilim Group started filing electronic declarations using the Internet. The new declaration format was introduced as part of the Russian Government's Electronic Russia task project, which is expected to be completed by 2012.

Ilim Group has chosen Metso Company as the main technology and equipment supplier for a new kraft softwood pulp mill to be built in Irkutsk Oblast on its production site in Bratsk. It is one of the largest investment projects in the Russian pulp and paper industry for the past 40 years.

Over the first quarter of 2010 OJSC Ilim Group’s locations have manufactured 603 thousand tons of pulp and paper products. This is 12% more than in the corresponding period of 2009.

During the first three months of 2010, the pulp and paper output of Ilim Group enterprises integrated into Ilim West business unit (the Koryazhma Branch) amounted to 245 thousand tons, i.e. up 18% over the first three months of 2009.

Ilim Group's board of directors has approved an investment of approximately US$700 million to build a new kraft pulp mill in Bratsk (Irkutsk Oblast). The financing for the project is being arranged by the joint venture.
