Paul, Herbert

Born in 1949 in London, Paul Herbert made his vocational qualification in papermaking and studied Engineering at East London Polytechnic University. He later attended Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University for MBA studies.

Total work experience in pulp and paper industry is 37 years.

Paul Herbert started out as a Shift Foreman and spent one third of his career in manufacturing and corporate engineering. He then held various roles in operations and commercial management, as well as top executive posts in various companies.

Paul Herbert worked for companies in Chile, Brazil, USA, Canada, Spain, Germany, France, and South-East Asia. Mr. Herbert has an extensive experience in elaborating and implementing mill upgrading and construction projects.

Paul joined International Paper in 1992 as Vice President Engineering & Manufacturing Services. Shortly thereafter, he was named Managing Director, International Paper — Office Papers West (Europe).

Paul was named Chief Executive Officer of Zanders Feinpapiere AG of Germany in 1996, and in November 2000, was appointed President of International Paper Europe. In July, 2003, he returned to the U.S. and was named as Senior Vice President, Printing & Communications Papers, a business with 10,000 employees and annual sales of $ 5 billion.

Paul Herbert held the position of a Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives of International Paper prior to leading the JV. His primary responsibility were the prioritization, development, and execution of International Paper's global growth initiatives. Focus areas include Russia, Brazil and China.

In October 2007 Paul Herbert was appointed CEO of Ilim Group.
