Richard Phillips is currently Adjunct Professor of Wood and Paper Science and Executive in Residence at North Carolina State University. He teaches a graduate level course in Business Strategy, and has an active research program in converting wood to ethanol. Recently, Phillips has lectured on both business and technical topics at Nanjing University and South China University of Technology, as well as the University of Montreal. Prior to joining the University, Phillips spent 34 years with International Paper, retiring in December, 2005, as senior vice president Technology. During his career with IP, Phillips was involved in every aspect of research and development, manufacturing improvement, and the IP capital investment program. Phillips served in the United States Army from 1966-68, after which he earned a PhD in chemical engineering from North Carolina State University. As of October 2007 Richard Phillips is elected Member of the Board of Directors, Ilim Group. |
